Colin Powell, Public Servant

Read the Washington Post story here. As much as I wish that he had stood up to the President on Iraq instead of doing his duty (not that a man like Colin Powell could do any less) I have to say that I admire him tremendously. I certainly hope he is involved in the next administration, democrat or republican. America could only benefit from his sage foreign policy advice - if only the people who matter actually listen.

Let us not forget, though, his finest hour. Waving a possibly pretend, possibly real bag of anthrax around in the United Nations. That was classic.

I guess I just mean to say that I'm a fan, and I think he usually gives good advice. I also think he's militarily loyal to a potentially huge fault, and happy to take the bullet for the team when maybe America would be better served by his standing up what what he thinks is the right path.
